Sobre esta prova
The PSS Imperial Palace Health Running event is a budget-friendly summer run held at Tokyo's Imperial Palace. The start and finish lines are located near the clock tower within Sakuradamon Gate. Participants can select from 5 km, 10 km, 20 km, or a 20 km relay. The longer distances commence earlier in the morning compared to the 5 km and 10 km races. Individual registration is 1,000 yen, and the relay is 4,000 yen. This pricing positions the event more like a structured training run than a major city competition. The participant numbers are typically between 100 and 499, and timing is done manually using a stopwatch and printer.
The course involves completing laps around the Imperial Palace, making it suitable for runners focused on pace tracking, interval training, or marathon preparation. PSS Inc., the organizer, describes it as Japan's most laid-back race. They permit late arrivals, accept same-day registrations, and allow runners to change categories on the day. Finishing early still results in a recorded distance rather than a Did Not Finish (DNF). However, the event does enforce strict lap cutoffs, with a checkpoint for 20 km runners before their final lap and a 5 km checkpoint for 10 km runners. All participants receive an award, and the participant gifts may include a sports drink, an izakaya meal voucher, and a magnetic chip.
