Summit Mountain Challenge 2026

The Summit Mountain Challenge is a six-race summer mountain bike series held on the trails of Summit County, Colorado. Races occur on Wednesday evenings from May through August, offering long, short, and kids course options. This allows riders to select a distance appropriate for their fitness and experience level. The series concludes with the Breckenridge Classic. The riding features fast trail sections and significant climbs, appealing to mountain bikers seeking consistent midweek competition over a single-day event. Those competing for overall standings must finish five of the six races on the same course length. Breckenridge Recreation now manages the series, having taken over from Jeff Wescott of Maverick Sports Promotions, maintaining an emphasis on accessible, well-organized local racing. The events are conducted under a USDA Forest Service special use permit within White River National Forest. Weather or trail conditions may necessitate a delay, cancellation, or rescheduling.
