Triathlon de Pau

Triathlon de Pau takes place in Pau, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, organized by Pau Triathlon Section Paloise. It features a distinct three-part course: the swim is in the Aressy lake, the bike leg crosses the hills south of the Pyrenees, and the run concludes on Pau’s Boulevard des Pyrénées in the city center. The primary distances are the S, comprising a 750 m swim, 20 km road bike, and 5 km road run, and the M, with a 1.5 km swim, 40 km road bike, and 10 km road run. Both adult distances are also available as relays, allowing for team participation. The day begins with children’s races and a youth XS race prior to the afternoon S and M events. The M race is the most attended format; a recent edition saw approximately 700 participants despite challenging heat, requiring additional care. The course offers athletes three distinct Pau environments: open water at Aressy, undulating road cycling near the Pyrenees, and a city center run along a prominent boulevard. Organizers aim for the event to be environmentally conscious, positioning it as a local club race with youth events, relay choices, and a focused effort on minimizing its ecological footprint.
