Russet Runners Marden 10K
The Russet Runners Marden 10K is a licensed, marshalled road 10K held in and around Marden, a Kent village set amidst country lanes. It typically takes place on a late-spring morning, with race headquarters at The Willows Business Park on Pattenden Lane and registration opening before the start. The race is organized by Russet Runners, the local Marden club, and fits the practical club-race description: measured distance, marshals, signage, chip collection at registration, toilets, refreshments, bag storage, and clear rules regarding headphones. The course begins and ends in Marden, utilizing the lanes surrounding the village, with temporary road closures within Marden for the initial 2km. It is predominantly flat, featuring only 34m of total elevation gain and a few mild inclines, making it suitable for runners aiming for a fast 10K as well as those seeking a simple local road race. Water stations are positioned halfway and at the finish. All finishers receive medals, with trophies awarded to the top male and female runners, age-group winners, and the leading team. The course records are currently under 35 minutes for men and just over 40 minutes for women.
