The Amazing Northampton Run
The Northampton Run begins in Market Square, offering participants three options: a 13.1-mile half marathon, a three-person half marathon relay, or a 3.3-mile fun run. This is a closed-road race through Northampton, supported by marshals, mile markers, pacers, and four water stations at approximately three-mile intervals. Go Beyond Events organizes the series, catering to solo half-marathon runners, relay teams, charity participants, and those seeking a shorter town-centre race. The half marathon departs from the historic Market Square, rebuilt after the Great Fire of 1675. It proceeds downhill over South Bridge and continues through a varied course featuring parks, university roads, riverside paths along the River Nene, and Northampton's sports venues. The route passes Abington Park, the University campus, Sixfields Stadium, Franklin's Gardens, and The County Ground, effectively serving as a tour of the town. All finishers receive a medal, half-marathon finishers also receive a T-shirt, and prizes are awarded to the top three male and female runners. Over 30 charity partners benefit from the event, offering free places to runners who secure a minimum sponsorship.
