St Albans Half Marathon
The St Albans Half Marathon starts and finishes in Verulamium Park, using one of the city’s main green spaces as its base. This UKA certified 13.1-mile road race in St Albans has an entry limit of 3,600 for the main half marathon. The event also provides a 10K, 5K, Fun Run, Walking Half Marathon, and a separate wheelchair half marathon, catering to various types of participants. Half marathon entrants must finish within 3 hours 15 minutes, and wheelchair entrants have a 3 hour 30 minute limit. The route leaves the park for country lanes, featuring some hills rather than a flat city loop. It is fully marshalled with professional medical cover along the course, and the event is wheelchair friendly. ATW organises the event, and entries close before race day, with no same-day sign-ups. Finishers receive a medal and an ice lolly, a local tradition at the finish line. The top three men and top three women in the half marathon receive podium medals, and marshals add personality by dressing in fancy dress along the route.
