The Yokote City Half Marathon takes place in late September in Yokote, Akita. It is centered at Yokote Gymnasium and uses a special city course, regardless of weather. The primary race is the 21.0975 km half marathon. Supporting events include a 10 km Challenge Run and two 2 km races: the Nikoniko Run for elementary school children and the Wakuwaku Run for junior high students, older participants, pairs, and trios.
The half marathon course is designed for smooth running, featuring minimal inclines, a broad path, kilometer markers, and numerous aid stations. Its distance is certified by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations. This event is suitable for runners aiming for a personal best, families completing a shorter race together, and children experiencing an organized competition. Preschoolers may participate in the pair or trio divisions with a supervising adult. Bibs and timing chips are sent out beforehand. Finishers are awarded same-day certificates, and all participants receive a participation prize and a record certificate. The Akita Furusato Village is located nearby, offering a place to spend time after the race with family or friends.
