O tomto preteku
Piekarski Bieg Trzeźwości is a short community run in Piekary Śląskie, held with a Nordic Walking march and based at the MOSiR stadium on ul. Olimpijska 3. The route is about 4 km, there is no entry fee, and the field is capped at 250 people. It is open to participants aged 16 and over, with parental or guardian consent required for minors. There is no race timing, which fits the event’s tone: this is not built as an elite competition, even though the first three women and men receive trophies.
The course goes through Dioblina Forest, with a short asphalt section before returning to the stadium area. Every finisher gets a commemorative medal. The race carries the name of Father Bronisław Gawron, a pioneer of the Piekary Abstinent Families Association and a spiritual guardian to many abstinence clubs. That background gives the event a clear message beyond exercise: runners, walkers, abstinence-club members, local families, and casual participants share a small, simple race connected to sobriety work in the city.
