The Tyler Rose Half Marathon & 5-Mile begins at the Rose Center in Tyler, Texas. This Piney Woods city is known as the rose capital of the nation. The race is scheduled to coincide with the annual Texas Rose Festival, placing runners in the city during the period when its identity is closely tied to its flower industry. Previously named the Tyler Half & 5K, the current name emphasizes the rose connection. The half marathon route proceeds east on Houston Street, turns south onto Englewood Avenue, and then returns to Erwin Street. It continues nearly a mile east toward Vine Avenue. From there, participants run south along Vine, Augusta, and Robertson. The course features rolling hills in the initial section, followed by steeper ascents later, particularly between miles 6 and 8 on Sunnybrook Drive, Vine, Alamo Drive, and back to Robertson. The race weekend also aligns with the Rose Festival’s parade, rose show, and tours of local rose fields and farms.

The Holiday 5K & 13.1M in Tyler, TX, is a winter running event held at 455 Shiloh Road. Both the 5K and half marathon begin at 8:00 AM Central time. Race-day logistics are straightforward: registration is exclusively online via RunSignup, with no on-site sign-ups. Packet pickup is available 30 minutes prior to the start and concludes 10 minutes before the race commences. Each distance features a repeating out-and-back format. The 5K completes its short out-and-back loop two times, and the half marathon repeats its loop six times, all within a 3 hour 30 minute time limit. Participants finishing receive medals. Longview hostí 11 Half Marathon pretekov v roku 2026 do 80 km od centra mesta — nadchádzajúce dátumy, opakujúce sa série a ďalšie preteky v okolí, všetko na jednom mieste.

Tu v Longview to my bežci držíme jednoducho. Máme tu 5K trasy, 10K výbehy a polmaratónske okruhy, ktoré sú super na base miles alebo na ostrejšie intervaly. Jedna trasa má 26 km a nastúpaš na nej 118 m, takže má viac 'štiplavosti' ako ten plochejší Hallsville New Year 5k 2013. Pre triatlonistov je tu East Texas Triathletes, tam sa cítime ako doma. A aby sme sa nenudili, kalendár je plný pretekov ako 1M, Medal Madness, Ninja, Strong Shall Stand 5K a Pilar McLemore Butterfly Run. Je ich dosť, aby sme ostali v tempe.

Cyklisti to tu robia tak, že nasmerujú predné koleso z Longview von a nechajú tie naše 'backroads' robiť svoju prácu. The Beast Of The Backroads je tu hlavný cyklistický pretek, s možnosťami 100 mile, 65 mile a 25 mile trasy. Tá 100M cyklistická slučka ide z Longview do Hallsville, potom Harelton, Marshall a naspäť do Longview, a nastúpaš na nej 7000ft. Takže tie kopce, tie sú tam vonku na tom okruhu. East Texas Triathletes drží cyklistov v kontakte, keď sa začne tri sezóna, gran fondo ciele, alebo keď sa prekrývajú dlhé Z2 jazdy. Jedna 1 mi jazda, zmapovaná blízko Longview, nastúpa 106 m, čo je super na taký krátky, 'výbušný' deň.

Marec je tu v Longview proste super. Priemerné počasie je medzi 57 a 69 stupňov, takže ideálne na čisté tréningové dni. My, miestni, využívame toto okno na stabilné bežecké objemy, dlhšie cyklistické trasy a špecifickú prácu pred tým, než nás prepadne letné teplo. V zime idú oba športy ďalej, ale väčšinou meníme prácu na maximálnu rýchlosť za base miles, polmaratónsky rytmus a vytrvalosť na 'backroads', než začne ďalšia príprava na Beast.
