Happy Feet Run/Walk 5K

The Happy Feet Run/Walk 5K is a fall 5K run and walk held at Heritage Park, Shelter 10, in Olathe, Kansas. It is organized by a local nonprofit foundation, accepting tax-deductible donations, and is designed for both runners and walkers, not exclusively competitive racers. The route is a 5 km park run, allowing participants to run, jog, or walk at their own pace. Families, children, volunteers, local supporters, and regular runners attend. The proceeds benefit children affected by the loss of a parent to suicide, with Variety KC also supporting the event's aim to help kids be active, social, and included.

Maple Leaf Festival

The Maple Leaf Run takes place in October, coinciding with the Maple Leaf Festival in Baldwin City, Kansas. Participants gather at the Baldwin City Golf Course on Main Street for an all-grass 5K, followed by a 1-mile children's race. The event begins early, with check-in prior to the 8 a.m. races, contributing to a local festival atmosphere rather than a large road-race production. The 5K route is entirely on grass, not pavement, and has been noted as a course used by the high school cross-country team. This offers the 5K a more distinct cross-country character compared to a standard town run. All finishers are awarded medals, and the top male and female finishers in both races receive plaques. The golf course provides a convenient viewing area for spectators, and the Baker women’s wrestling team assists in hosting the event.

Prairie Moon 5k Pumpkin Fun Run

The Prairie Moon 5K Pumpkin Fun Run begins and ends at Prairie Moon Waldorf School in Lawrence, Kansas. It features a timed 5K for adults and other runners, alongside a short, untimed obstacle-course run for children. This event serves as a public community fundraiser for the school. Adult 5K registration includes a shirt, and a children’s shirt is available for the fun run. The 5K route departs the school onto gravel roads and trails, incorporating the Mud Creek levee trail, before returning to campus. The course is timed but not certified. Strollers are permitted, but sturdy tires are recommended for the gravel sections. Following the run, the school grounds transform into a fall gathering with activities such as pumpkin painting, chess, tacos, coffee, and baked goods. Prizes from local stores are awarded to top finishers, and a Garmin watch raffle includes all 5K registrants.

Turkey Trot and Fun Run

Coach Yantis 5K Turkey Trot

The Coach Yantis 5K Turkey Trot is a 9 a.m. 5K run and walk at the Cunningham Center at MidAmerica Nazarene University, held on the Saturday morning before Thanksgiving. It is a community race honoring Brad Yantis, with timing chips for participants and a virtual 5K option for those who wish to join from elsewhere. The event is open to runners and walkers, and it also includes a Tot Trot for children ages 1 to 8. Proceeds support Brad Yantis’s MNU endowment scholarship, The American Cancer Society-Hope Lodge KC, and grants for Olathe Public Schools through a local community partner.

Topeka Turkey Trot

Zúčastňujú sa bežci, chodci, rodiny, skúsení pretekári, nováčikovia aj deti, takže je to skôr komunitné stretnutie než čisto súťažné podujatie. Preteky kladú dôraz na vďačnosť, spolupatričnosť a na to, aby ti chutil koláč po dobehu.

MHK Turkey Trot

V Manhattan, Kansas sa na Deň vďakyvzdania ráno beží 5K, MHK Turkey Trot. Štart a cieľ je pri Kite's Bar & Grill na North 12th Street. Štart je o 9:00 ráno Central a kto nemôže prísť, môže si zabehnúť aj Virtual 5K. Je to už 11. ročník, štartovné je štandardné a pre bežcov do 12 rokov majú detskú zľavu. Prečo tam ľudia idú, je jasné: veľká kopa ľudí si zabehne po Poyntz a potom idú jesť s rodinou. Organizátor odhaduje, že na ulici je okolo 1,700 bežcov, takže je to skôr komunitný sviatočný beh ako malá klubová akcia. Na behu sa zbierajú aj dary od účastníkov a majú aj fundraisingové rebríčky, kontakt na akciu je Ben Sigle.

Lawrence Shamrock Shuffle

The Lawrence Shamrock Shuffle begins and ends at Johnny's Tavern in Lawrence, Kansas, offering 5K, 10K, Family 5K, and virtual race choices. This event aligns with the Lawrence St. Patrick's Day Parade, taking place annually during the St. Patrick's season. Participants are encouraged to wear green or other Irish-themed attire. The 10K provides a less common distance for local runners, and the shorter races accommodate families and casual participants. The courses follow the river levee, extend into North Lawrence, and traverse the historic North Lawrence and Pinkney neighborhoods. Aid stations are positioned approximately every 1.5 to 2 miles. Awards are presented to overall winners, Masters and Super Masters, and the top three in each age category. Registration covers a race shirt and a participation award. Post-race refreshments feature an Irish breakfast from Johnny's North and the parade committee. Proceeds benefit Douglas County children's charities selected by the Lawrence St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee.

Club CAN Dash-Neurodiversity in Motion 2026

Club CAN Dash-Neurodiversity in Motion begins at 9:00 a.m. at Shawnee Mission Park, 7710 Renner Rd. in Shawnee, Kansas. The event features a 5K and a 1 Mile Run/Walk/Roll/Kids Run. The 5K is open to participants who wish to run, walk, or roll, not solely compete for time. This is a family-friendly spring event that benefits Club CAN, which stands for Community Appreciating Neurodiversity Inc. The shorter distance is open to ages 5 and up. Club CAN’s wider mission focuses on providing social opportunities for neurodivergent individuals from middle school through adulthood. Packet pick-up is available on race day before the start, and also on Thursday evening. Registration includes a t-shirt, with supplies guaranteed through early April. This is the first annual Club CAN Dash and includes an After Bash. The morning is designed around movement, fundraising, and spending time together after the race.

U nás v Topeke to s behaním držíme jednoduché, väčšinu roboty spravia Felker Park, Lake Shawnee, Hummer Sports Park, Dole Park, Skyline Park a Dornwood Park. Top City Run Club sa stretáva v Felker Parku každú stredu od 18:00 do 20:00 a atmosféra je tam super – pre všetky vekové kategórie, všetky tempá, všetky vzdialenosti. V Hummer Sports Parku sa koná Angie Barry Memorial 5K/10K. Na Lake Shawnee zas máme 3rd Annual PPP3CA Race for Rare 5k Run/Walk. A aby kalendár nebol prázdny, sú tu ešte Topeka Turkey Trot, Back to School 5K, Capitol Classic a The Big Run.

Cyklisti si tu prídu na svoje, je tu fakt mix, lebo Topeka má pravidelnú sieť ulíc, široké obytné cesty, Shunga Trail a Landon Nature Trail. Kaw Valley Bicycle Club drží skupinové jazdy v chode s týždennými výjazdmi a The Topeka Wheelmen majú stále rešpekt ako stará škola. Gravel tu väčšinou začína na asfalte, lebo aj tak sa na šotolinu väčšinou dostaneš len po asfalte. Northeast Kincaid Road to Hiawatha má 61.6 mi, Southwest Fairlawn Road 63.7 mi a Mad Mike's Gravel Ride - Long Route 60.4 mi. Na Topeka Gravel/Unpaved Cycling route vedia kopce potrápiť – nastúpaš tam 222 m a maximálny sklon je 9.1%.

Máj, jún a júl sú najlepšie mesiace na zbieranie base miles, ostrejšie intervaly a dlhšie Z2 dni, kým počasie nezačne šéfovať. Zimné rána majú priemerne 3°C a letné poobedia vedia byť horúce a dosť vlhké, takže miestni väčšinou rešpektujú skorý štart. Zima mení skôr rytmus ako trasy. 7 poobedí do roka je pod bodom mrazu a ľahký sneh môže bežcov posunúť k stabilnejším cestným kilometrom, zatiaľ čo cyklisti si vyberú čistejší asfalt, traily alebo kratšie výjazdy.
