Tacky Sweater 5k Run/Walk 2026

The Tacky Sweater 5K Run/Walk takes participants around Lakewood Nature Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina, beginning at 10:00 a.m. This holiday-themed 5K is part of the Upstate Race Series. Chip timing, live results, custom bibs, and packet pickup are available starting one hour before the race. The course consists of two 1.5-mile loops on wide, grassy trails within the preserve. The main requirement is attire: sweaters must be worn for the entire race. Particularly outlandish homemade sweaters receive special consideration, and cash prizes are awarded to the three most ridiculous sweaters. Teams can contend for Best Group Sweater, and spectators will select a People's Choice winner. A mandatory pose at the Tacky Sweater Finish Line concludes the event. Running clubs, social run groups, children, adults, and festive pets are encouraged to participate. Donations collected through the series benefit 28 local nonprofits.
