Race bibs and runner bags can be collected at the Runner's Fair in Plaza Ensanche de Irun on Saturday, February 27th, from 10 am to 8 pm, and on the race day itself at the Frontón Uranzu in Irun. Showers, changing rooms, and luggage storage are available nearby.
Media Maratón Azkoitia-Azpeitia
SA MÄR 20
The Azkoitia-Azpeitia Half Marathon is a 21.097 km road race connecting the towns of Azkoitia and Azpeitia in the province of Gipuzkoa, Basque Country. Known as 'the half marathon of the heart,' the event blends elite and amateur athletics in a festive atmosphere. The mostly asphalt course is recognized for its speed, making it a target for runners seeking to improve their personal bests. The organizers limit the number of available bibs, creating high demand and quick sell-outs, which underscores its popularity. The race pays tribute to Diego García, adding an emotional dimension to the competition. Despite its demanding distance, the accessible route appeals to experienced runners and those looking for a meaningful challenge in their sporting calendar.
Azkoitia-Azpeitia international Half marathon
SA MÄR 20
The Azkoitia-Azpeitia is a half marathon held in Gipuzkoa, within the Spanish Basque Country, crossing the route between the towns of Azkoitia and Azpeitia. It is an open event; participants must be over 14 years old and are welcome regardless of sex, nationality, or club affiliation. Annually, over 1,000 individuals participate, including both international elite athletes and amateur runners sharing the same course. The course is designed for speed, featuring a predominantly downhill path on asphalt through the Urola River valley. Green mountains form the backdrop for much of the race, with the pass before the Loyola Sanctuary serving as a distinct landmark. The race concludes with a long straight section on Azpeitia's streets, where local spectators line the route and offer enthusiastic support. It is held in remembrance of local champion Diego Garcia and is known by the moniker "la media maraton del corazon" — the half marathon of the heart.
Ahuntzen Mendi Lasterketa
SA MÄR 27
The Ahuntzen Mendi Lasterketa is a mountain race held in Elgeta, Gipuzkoa. The course covers 21 kilometers with a cumulative elevation gain of 1,200 meters, offering a demanding route through the Basque natural landscape. Designed for experienced trail runners, the race features significant elevation changes and technical terrain typical of mountain events in the region. The route winds through mountain trails and paths, providing panoramic views of the Gipuzkoan countryside. Organizers provide strategic aid stations to support participants throughout the race, along with chip timing for accurate results. The town of Elgeta, in the heart of Euskadi, hosts this event, attracting runners seeking both a physical challenge and immersion in nature.
Otso Media Maratón Getxo: toda la información - Aupa Mikel

The event also offers 5 km and 10 km races, catering to both those seeking the full half marathon distance and participants preferring a shorter popular race. The course is described as entirely flat and winds past several of Getxo’s notable city monuments. Club Atletico Getxo organizes the race, now in its third edition. Finishers receive a medal, and all participants get a T-shirt. Runner services include showers, cloakroom storage, and bib pickup available before race day or on the morning of the event.
Media Maratón de San Sebastián
SO APR 11
The San Sebastián Half Marathon takes place in mid-April in Donostia-San Sebastián, on Spain’s Basque coast, offering 10 km and 21.0975 km distances. This is a city road race designed for speed: the course is flat, at sea level, and fast enough to attract strong elite runners and those aiming for personal bests. The setting is straightforward for racing, as the course utilizes the city’s streets, waterfront, and central neighborhoods rather than venturing into the countryside. The half marathon route goes by La Concha Beach, the promenade, the city center, the old town, and Zurriola Beach. Runners find it very flat and quick, with the bay and the city's east side offering many sights when the pace permits. The local marathon weekend provides additional context: San Sebastián also hosts Spain’s second-oldest marathon, featuring a flat urban course and a same-day 10K, which local leaders highlight as a significant objective for area runners. Spectator support is frequently mentioned in runner feedback, with crowds and fellow participants contributing to a race day suitable for first-timers, club runners, and serious athletes.
Vitoria-Gasteiz Maratón Martín Fiz
SO MAI 9
The EDP Vitoria-Gasteiz Maraton Martin Fiz 10K is a 10,000-meter road race held in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Alava, Spain. This 10K is part of a race event organized by Ascentium, which also features children’s races. The 10K course is homologated, meaning the distance is officially measured. Participants receive aid stations with liquids, access to toilets, timing services, a cloakroom, physiotherapy support, and trophies for winners in applicable categories.
Sorginen Lasterketa
SO OKT 3
Sorginen Lasterketa is a mountain race starting and finishing in Plaza de Axpe, Axpe, Atxondo, Bizkaia, at 9:00 AM. This Basque trail event is compact yet steep, offering a 21 km race with approximately 1,750 metres of climbing and an 11.7 km option with about 890 metres of ascent. Registration is limited to 350 participants. The main race includes four aid stations, is rated medium-to-high difficulty, and has a five-hour time limit. The longer route ascends Anboto, a 1,331 m peak that defines the race's sharp mountain character. The shorter route reaches the Larrano area, around 980 m. The participants include both skilled mountain runners and regular trail runners. The 21 km race is part of the Durangal series. The event, now in its later editions, is a well-established fixture in the Basque trail running calendar, maintaining a community feel rather than a large-scale event atmosphere.
Bilbao Night Running Fest
