Race to Cure Sarcoma Tampa
Race to Cure Sarcoma Tampa is an annual charity race and walk held at Perry Harvey Sr. Park in Tampa, Florida. The event offers a 5K, a 1 or 2 mile walk/fun run, and virtual participation options. Separate adult and child entries are available for the shorter distance and virtual race.
The morning schedule accommodates both runners and walkers. Families, first-timers, and those connected to sarcoma can participate without needing a full race goal. The event gathers hundreds of people affected by sarcoma. The Sarcoma Foundation of America utilizes the Race to Cure Sarcoma series to raise awareness and fund research nationwide.
Tunnel to Towers Climb - Tampa, FL
The Tunnel to Towers Climb in Tampa is an indoor stair climb at Tampa City Center, starting from 201 N. Franklin Street. Instead of a road course, runners and walkers head upward: 861 steps toward the 41st floor, with the route finishing on the roof. Official timing stops on the 39th floor, and participants continue two more flights to reach the top.
The event is part of the national Tunnel to Towers Run, Walk & Climb Series, which honors Stephen Siller, an FDNY firefighter who ran through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel toward the Twin Towers and died in the World Trade Center attacks. The Tampa climb supports first responders and military members, and registration categories include adults, first responders and military, youth ages 13 to 17, and children 12 and under. Participants receive a T-shirt and race swag.
Howl-o-ween 5k - Tampa
The Howl-o-ween 5K is a Halloween-themed 5K run/walk held at Gadsen Park in Tampa, Florida. It is designed for runners, walkers, and dogs, with the event benefiting animal shelters instead of prioritizing finish times.
The race features chip-timed bibs, live results, and official timing and scoring provided by J3 Timing, with results published by J3 Timing post-race. Registration includes a short sleeve shirt and a finisher medal, and the finish line offers treats for both participants and dogs.

Finn's Fighters 5th Annual Superhero 5K
Finn's Fighters Superhero 5K and Family Fun is a chip-timed 5K in Tampa, Florida, now based at Al Lopez Park near 4810 N Himes Ave. The fifth annual event starts at 9:00 AM sharp, runs rain or shine, and includes a family stroller roll alongside the main race.
FIT4MOM and Tampa Lung present the event, which raises money for Finn's Fighters programs supporting pediatric cancer awareness and families facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis. Runners are encouraged to wear an ugly sweater, and the lineup keeps strollers, walkers, and dog owners toward the back for a smoother start. Finn's Fighters also works with St. Joseph Hospital Foundation to help fund a dedicated therapist for the hospital's hematology/oncology department.
The Great West Chase
The Great West Chase is a race series in the Tampa area, based at West Park Village Town Center, which serves as the start and finish for all events. It features a USATF/RRTC nationally certified 10K, a certified 5K run/walk, and a Fun Run. The 10K begins at 7 a.m., followed by the 5K at 8 a.m., and the Fun Run at 9 a.m.
The event, hosted annually since 2002, attracts over 1,300 participants across its three races. Runners, walkers, families, and children travel from across Tampa Bay. The day combines competitive running with a fundraiser for a local school. WOW magazine organizes the race, with all net proceeds benefiting math and literacy programs at elementary schools in the area. Packet pickup is available at the Westchase Recreation Center. Registration can be completed online, by mail, in person, or on race day.
6th Annual Veterans Run
The Veterans Run starts and finishes at Ben T. Davis Park in Tampa, using the paved trail on the south side of the Courtney Campbell Causeway for all distances. Runners may select a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or 15.5-mile race; the 5K and half marathon also offer virtual participation. The event focuses on honoring and supporting America’s veterans, with certified timing for all in-person distances, accommodating both those seeking a personal best and those participating for the cause.
All in-person courses are out-and-back routes along the Causeway, with Tampa Bay alongside the trail for most of the run. The longer races include the route’s notable Florida feature: a climb to a locally high point offering an overlook across the bay. Only the 15.5-mile race covers the Causeway’s full length. The race resumed after a two-year hiatus due to hurricane damage and city restrictions. The setup includes aid stations with water and electrolyte drinks, plus additional nutrition for half marathon and 15.5-mile runners.
BayCare Wobble Turkey Trot
The BayCare Wobble Turkey Trot begins and ends at Tampa Premium Outlets in Wesley Chapel, Florida. This Thanksgiving run uses a shopping center as its base, differing from a downtown or park location. The primary event is a timed 5K. Other options include a 1(Tur)K, a combined entry for both distances, a virtual 5K, a one-mile untimed Family Fun Run, and a kids dash. These variations accommodate families and casual walkers alongside runners aiming for a specific time.
The race was previously known as The Original Wiregrass Wobble Turkey Trot 5K and is presented by BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel. Participants who finish receive a long-sleeve tech shirt, with size guarantees for early registrants. Volunteers also contribute to the event. Proceeds benefit the Rotary Club of New Tampa Foundation and the AdventHealth Wesley Chapel Foundation, providing the race with a local charitable mission beyond the holiday run.
Tampa YMCA Turkey Gobble 5K & 1 Mile
The Tampa YMCA Turkey Gobble 5K & 1 Mile is a running event held in late November in Tampa, Florida, offering both a 5K and a 1-mile race. It begins at Benchmark International Arena, providing the race with a central Tampa location rather than a park or trailhead setting.
The 5K race is 5 kilometers long, and the 1-mile race is 1.6 kilometers. The Tampa YMCA is the organizer, and the two-distance format accommodates runners seeking a standard short road race alongside those who prefer a quick mile.
