Bastogne-Wiltz-Bastogne is a winter trail race in the Ardennes, starting and finishing in Bastogne. Distances range from 18 to 100 kilometers. It is the organizer's final trail event of the year. Even the shorter distances are hilly: the 18 km has 588 meters of climbing, and the 30 km has 1,144 meters. The longer races increase quickly, with 50 km, 70 km, and 100 km options. The 100 km route climbs 3,111 meters.
The course is almost entirely off-road, with over 95% unpaved terrain. The core concept is a run between Bastogne and Wiltz and back. Newer Castle Trail Luxembourg-Wiltz routes offer 18 km and 30 km options that start and finish in Wiltz. The 70 km can also be run as a team relay, broadening the event beyond solo ultra runners. A past 72 km version qualified for the UTMB Index and had 257 finishers, attracting serious trail runners from the region alongside those seeking a long winter challenge.
