XTERRA Belgium takes place at the Citadel of Namur, featuring off-road triathlon and duathlon events centered on the historic fortress overlooking the city. As part of the XTERRA World Tour, it offers distinct race formats for adults, youth athletes, and new participants, avoiding a one-size-fits-all approach. The main triathlon covers 1.5K swimming, 43K cycling, and 10K running. The Discovery triathlon reduces these distances to 0.5K, 21K, and 5K, respectively. A Rookie / My First Triathlon includes a 250m swim, 5.3K bike, and 5.2K run, alongside duathlon races for adults and children.
The course's terrain is central to the event: sections along the river, through forests, and on mountain paths are all situated near the citadel, defining it as a mountain-bike focused race day rather than a road triathlon. Only mountain bikes are permitted. Participants require either an international triathlon license or a day license. Wetsuit use is determined by water temperature, with rentals available. Time limits apply to the longer full and duathlon races, but not to the shorter youth and recreational events. Complementing the races, an XTERRA Expo, pre-race swim practice, an athlete meal, and a post-race concert are scheduled, with accommodation options including hotels and camping near Namur.
