Ermstal-Marathon 2026

The Ermstal-Marathon takes place in mid-July in Metzingen, located in Baden-Württemberg’s Ermstal region near the Swabian Jura. While named for the marathon, its program accommodates various runners, offering 5 km and 10 km races, a half marathon, and a 7.5 km Nordic walking option. It attracts a substantial local participation, with over 2,700 runners in a recent event, ranking it among the top 20 registered running events in Württemberg. The courses feature undulating paths surrounding Metzingen, winding through natural landscapes and forests instead of a flat city circuit. The event also focuses on younger participants, with nearly 450 students competing in the final races, including U16 participants over approximately 1,100 meters. Local school awards are presented, and in one recent competition, Sieben-Keltern-Schule narrowly outperformed Grafenberg Elementary School. Consequently, the event resonates with local clubs, families, and schools in the Ermstal area, as well as with adult distance runners.
