Royal Run København / Frederiksberg marks the capital region's event in Denmark’s Royal Run, a mass-participation race held on the second day of Pentecost. Participants select a distance: one mile, 5 km, or 10 km, to run or walk. The overall Royal Run program spans five host cities, including Copenhagen/Frederiksberg alongside locations like Ribe, Viborg, Horsens, and Korsør, with the total event attendance potentially reaching approximately 97,500.
The Copenhagen/Frederiksberg route is designed as a city run, accommodating mixed groups with wide passages, rather than exclusively for elite runners. Throughout the host cities, courses incorporate historic districts, coastal areas, notable landmarks, and active urban settings, supported by local engagement. Race director Morten Algot Nielsen notes the organizers collaborate closely with each host city, contributing to the event's integration with its specific locations, distinguishing it from a standard fun run.
