The Trail de Vilatuxe, also known as Desafío Serra do Candán, begins at the O Pozo do Boi river beach, near Lalín in Galicia. Galaico Trail Run stages this annual mountain running event, limiting participation to 600 runners. The event offers five race formats: a 33.4 km trail, a 20.4 km medium trail, a 14 km short trail, a 13.3 km walk, and a children's pequetrail in the afternoon. The long race starts first, followed by the medium, short, and walk events, with the children's races concluding the day.
The courses traverse the Zobra and Vilatuxe mountain parishes, with climbing presenting the primary challenge. The long trail includes approximately 2,300 meters of ascent and 4,600 meters of total elevation change. The medium route features 1,297 meters of positive gain, and the short route has 737 meters of climbing. The short trail is for participants aged 15 and over. The pequetrail divides children by age group: 200 meters for ages two to six, 500 meters for ages seven to ten, and 3 km for ages ten to fourteen. A 400 euro team prize is awarded to clubs, calculated by summing the times of each club's top three male and top three female finishers.
