Saimaa Run begins and ends at Imatran Kylpylä, the spa hotel area in Imatra, with both races starting on a Sunday morning. It is a small, timed running event offering two straightforward options: 5 km for one lap or 10 km for two laps. The race is set beside Lake Saimaa rather than city streets, so even the short distance allows runners time alongside water, forest paths, and the Ukonniemi shore.
From the spa, the route proceeds toward Ukonniemi, crosses a narrow isthmus onto Lammasaari, and follows the island’s shoreline counterclockwise. Runners pass Vene-Hietsu pier, Saunatupa Sissi, and a nature trail before returning along the island’s western side, where the view opens again toward the Saimaa coast and the Imatra spa area. The course is mostly flat with gentle rises, making it suitable for new event runners, fitness runners, and individuals seeking a measured run without a competitive atmosphere. Imatran Kylpylä also serves as the event hub, with registration, toilets, and finish-line services located there, and Vuoksi Swim is held on the same weekend with 4, 8, and 10 km swim options.
