The Giro delle Crete Senesi begins in Monteroni d'Arbia, south of Siena, guiding road-bike riders into one of Tuscany's more challenging cycling regions. Held in September, it provides three primary route options: a long route of approximately 135 km with 2,200 m of elevation gain, a medium route of about 115 km with 1,900 m, and a shorter 75 km route with 950 m.
The event, organized by Ciclistica Valdarbia, is part of the Tuscan UISP cycle-touring circuit. It targets road cyclists seeking a demanding challenge, distinct from professional races. While route distances and elevation have varied in past years, climbing remains central to the event's character. Even the short course includes significant ascents, and the longer routes demand consistent effort through the Sienese countryside. Timing is managed by Kronoservice, registration via Audaxit, and the event has completed over 28 editions.
