Σχετικά με τον αγώνα
Granfondo La Fausto Coppi starts in Cuneo and enters the Cottian Alps. The long route covers 172 km with over 4,300 meters of elevation gain in a single day. This Italian granfondo takes place in early summer in Piedmont and offers a shorter Mediofondo option that still includes more than 2,500 meters of climbing. As one of the older granfondos in Italy and Europe, it attracts a diverse international field. Recent editions have seen over 2,500 registrations from 42 countries, with more than 2,300 riders starting in Cuneo.
The Granfondo route diverges from the Mediofondo near Cuneo, crosses the Viadotto Soleri, and proceeds towards Busca. It utilizes the Colletta di Rossana to reach the Varaita Valley. The initial significant climb is Colle di Sampeyre, a 16 km ascent to 2,284 meters, followed by a swift, technical 17.7 km descent into the Maira Valley. The course also features the climb towards Colle Fauniera and crosses roads used in the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France. A straightforward tradition defines the event: all participants wear the same jersey, regardless of whether they are competing, riding the Mediofondo, or selecting a non-competitive option like the Fauniera Classic.
