The Granfondo Unione Comuni Val Vibrata is a road-cycling gran fondo held in Colonnella, Teramo province, Abruzzo, starting and finishing in the town center. Taking place in early March, it marks the start of the six-race Circuito Volchem. Participants can select from two timed competitive routes or a non-competitive cyclotourism option, catering to both racers on road bikes and those seeking an organized course without the competitive pressure.
The long route spans 119.3 km with 1,810 m of elevation gain, and the medium route covers 90.4 km with 1,230 m of climbing. The cyclotourism route is shorter at 54.2 km but still offers a challenging, hilly profile. The group departs at a relaxed pace for the initial 5 km from Via Roma to kilometer zero at Gabbiano, after which the race begins in earnest, soon approaching the Controguerra climb. This event, new rather than an established local classic, utilizes EvoData OneChip timing and is structured around road bikes, climbing, and the Val Vibrata region north of Abruzzo, near the Tronto river.
