Central Alps Skyline Japan is a mountain trail race at the foot of Japan’s Central Alps, based in Akaho, Komagane City, Nagano Prefecture, run over a July weekend. The event offers five distances: 90k, 38k, 20k, 10k, and 4k. The longer races are built for steep effort, ridgelines, and runners who want a full mountain day. The 38k race counts as Round 1 of the NIPPON Trail Running Grand Prix Series, carrying a sharper competitive edge than a normal local trail event.
The named courses make the setup easy to understand. CASJ 90k is the long limit-testing option, SKYLINE 38k crosses peak after peak, HIGHLAND 20k climbs over one main peak, KOMAKAPPA 10k gives beginners a shorter trail challenge, and MIYASAN 4k uses well-maintained walking paths for kids and families. Most races start from Komagane Farms, while the 4k starts from Mori to Mizu Outdoor Experience Plaza. The race grew out of the old Nishikoma Mountain Marathon National Convention and was brought back as a modern trail running event. Expect serious mountain runners chasing series points on the 38k, alongside newer runners and families using the shorter routes for a first taste of the trails.
