The Alpha City Run sends runners over obstacles through the center of Arnhem, with route choices of about 3.5, 6.5, and 13 kilometers. The shortest option is a family obstacle run for ages eight and up, while the longer city routes suit people who want a bigger challenge without treating the day like a straight road race. The organizers frame it around health, teamwork, and connection rather than speed.
The route goes right through Arnhem’s city center, where runners meet a series of built obstacles instead of just chasing a finish time on open streets. Previous editions have drawn hundreds of participants, sometimes close to or above a thousand, including families, local athletes, sports clubs, city initiatives, and even the mayor. Local sports organizations, main sponsors, and smaller sponsors help supply both the people and the obstacle-building support, so the event feels more like a city project than a standalone race.
