The Hilversum City Run begins and ends on Marktplein, located in the heart of Hilversum. This yearly event offers 5 km and 10 km races, alongside shorter runs for youth and families. Organized by Le Champion and affiliated with the Atletiekunie, the event limits participation to 10,000 individuals. Each year, thousands attend, including runners, walkers, families, school-age children, company teams, and Business Run participants.
The course winds through the city center, crossing busy squares with eateries, passing the Mediapark, and entering adjacent Gooische neighborhoods with wide streets and substantial homes. Approximately 275 volunteers contribute to the event annually. The race benefits KiKa, a Dutch foundation dedicated to childhood cancer research, with one past edition raising €188,256.40 for the cause. A unique event shirt is provided each year, offering participants a tangible memento of the day.
