The adidas Stockholm Marathon is a 42.195 km road marathon in Stockholm, run in May through the center of Sweden’s capital. It starts at Stockholm Stadium and finishes inside the 1912 Olympic Stadium, so runners end in one of athletics’ most record-heavy arenas: 83 officially recognized track and field world records have been set there. The race draws both elite runners and everyday marathoners, and it is organized by the athletics clubs Hässelby SK and Spårvägens FK.
The course runs through a city built on 14 islands, with central Stockholm and its medieval core giving the route a very urban, historic feel. Hundreds of thousands of spectators line the streets, and the field includes almost 7,500 international runners from more than 90 countries. The event also has a full race-week setup around it, with a Marathon Expo, Pasta Party, and Post Race Celebration. Runners can earn better start seeding through linked races such as adidas Premiärmilen and adidas Premiärhalvan, and the organizers put strong emphasis on runner service along the course.
