Blodomloppet Jönköping takes place in August as part of Sweden's blood-donation running series, held at Knektaparken on Odengatan. This evening event features timed 5 km and 10 km runs, an untimed 5 km walk, and Lilla Blodomloppet for children up to 12 on a 700 m course. The Jönköping race attracts several thousand participants; the latest reported field had 5,510. Its goal is straightforward: link recreational running with blood donation, organized locally by Hovslätts IK and Ge Blod.
The variety of distances appeals to club runners, workplace teams, walkers, families, and children, not exclusively fast racers. Participants can register individually or in teams, with five-person teams receiving a picnic bag post-race. Blood donors get a reduced entry fee, and the Blodomloppet series collaborates with local blood centers in each city. The series originated in Gothenburg and Stockholm with 500 runners each, later extending to Jönköping, and now occurs annually in numerous Swedish locations.
