Sobre esta carrera
October 3rd marks the Sparkassen Münsterland Giro, a road-cycling day in Münster where professionals and amateur cyclists share one of Germany’s largest cycling events. It serves as the main race day for cyclists in the Münsterland region, offering amateur riders three distance options: 65 km, 95 km, or 125 km. The City of Münster organizes the event, structuring it as a cycling festival accessible to the public.
The amateur routes begin at the Prinzipalmarkt in central Münster, proceeding on closed roads through the Münsterland, with the finish line celebration taking place before the Münster Schloss. The professional race route may commence elsewhere in the region, such as Borken, before connecting the wider Münsterland back to the city. Participants range from leisure riders to ambitious amateurs, and the pro race has attracted top sprinters like Jasper Philipsen. Additionally, a children’s race, LeezenKids: Stadtwerke-Girolino, is held; it can fill up early, indicating the event's significance for local cycling families and racers alike.
