9th Annual Solstice Swim 2026

Alexandra Headland Beach defines the 9th Annual Solstice Swim with its salt water, surf club setting, and a local group executing the event with precision. Organized by the Alexandra Headland Rotary Club and Alexandra Headland Surf Lifesaving Club, it is a "healthy and fun community swim event" run "by the community for the community," offering a distinct race-day atmosphere of "camaraderie, no pressure, just good vibes and fun." You begin with a beach briefing from the AHSLC swim captain, then proceed into the water under the supervision of Alex Headland Lifesavers on boards and jet skis. Participants include younger swimmers and first-time ocean competitors getting comfortable, alongside regular swimmers and dedicated athletes who return annually. A unique tradition is the "nearly naked splash" for the solstice: no wetsuits are permitted, just a brief immersion to signify the "start of new celestial year" and receive the event shirt.
