GV Last Man Standing 2026

SAT, September 12, 2026 · Whyndam Street , Australia

About this race

GV Last Man Standing begins at Victoria Park Lake in central Shepparton, Northern Victoria. It follows the backyard ultra format where runners begin a new loop each hour and continue until only one person can complete another lap. The rule is simple: run one lap farther than everyone else, as there is no second place. This is Northern Victoria's original backyard ultra, attracting locals, experienced ultrarunners, and athletes interested in a race where endurance is more important than speed for the next hourly start. The course circles the east side of Victoria Park Lake, near the water, bringing runners back to the same start area repeatedly rather than a long point-to-point route. This repeated restart fosters a social atmosphere: participants run together, regroup hourly, eat, reset, and then decide whether to continue. Fields have ranged from the size of a busy local running event, with approximately 70 to 120 starters in past editions. The distances achieved at the front are significant: winners have exceeded 200 km, with one recorded winner reaching 402.360 km.
