Newcastle Cross Country 13: Mt Sugarloaf At The Top 2026

SAT, June 27, 2026 · Newcastle-Maitland , Australia

About this race

Newcastle Cross Country’s Mt Sugarloaf At The Top run begins at the summit of Mt Sugarloaf, where conditions in the afternoon can become cold enough that participants are advised to bring warm clothing. It is a Saturday handicap event, meaning runners start at staggered times determined by their handicap rather than all at once. Entrants select a 2, 5, or 10 km distance during registration. Both membership and weekly distance registration must be completed online by midnight on the Friday preceding the run. The course follows a simple out-and-back route along one of the fire trails from the mountain summit. While waiting for their assigned start time, runners may go to the finish line to encourage competitors completing the King of the Mountain event. Following the run, participants are welcome to remain for a BBQ, contributing to a club afternoon atmosphere on the mountain rather than a typical race format.
