Victoria Training Notes
Victoria hosts 8 Half Marathon races in 2026 within 80 km of the city centre — upcoming dates, recurring series, and other races nearby, all in one place.
Locals stack easy miles on Dallas Road Waterfront, Beacon Hill Park, Songhees Way, and the Galloping Goose Trail. Dallas Road from Clover Point to Ogden Point breakwater gives runners 8 km of paved coastal rhythm, and the breeze can turn Z2 into work. Songhees Way keeps changing with marine traffic in the harbour. Rithet’s Bog, Thetis Lake Park, Mount Doug, and Elk Lake Regional Park handle trail days and muddy intervals. Badass Chicks Run Trails meets Saturdays at 9:00 AM at trailheads around Victoria. Prairie Inn Harriers, Fernwood Social Run Club, Notorious Run Club, and Frontrunners Victoria keep the calendar busy. Royal Victoria Marathon 2026 is the anchor event.
Locals ride the Galloping Goose Trail, Lochside Trail, E&N Rail Trail, Peninsula loop, and Colquitz River Trail for base miles. The Galloping Goose and Lochside Trails stretch about 80 kilometres from Swartz Bay ferry terminal to Sooke, with much of it car-free on paved or packed-gravel trails. Tripleshot Cycling, Victoria Wheelers, Broad St. Cycles, Dirty Girlz Bike Club, Oak Bay Bikes Club & Racing, and TNRG Cycling Club cover road, gravel, MTB, cyclocross, and crit legs. Victoria Wheelers starts Saturday rides at 9:00 am from Oak Bay Bikes. Royal Bay Crit, Ryder Hesjedal's Tour de Victoria, and Munn Road Monster Climb are the big markers. Munn Road, Mount Tolmie, Mount Doug, Ten Mile Point, Queenswood, and the Highlands hold the climbing.
Victoria works year round, minus a few days due to the annual snow fall. Locals treat spring and summer as the cleanest block for volume, gran fondo prep, crit sharpness, and longer rides toward Metchosin, Matheson Lake, Sidney, and Lands End. Summer can still cook you on the way back, and Dallas Road can be very breezy even when the water looks calm. The Tour de Victoria route brings Munn Road in the Highlands into the summer conversation. Winter gets very quiet, but runners still use Dallas Road, Beacon Hill Park, Thetis Lake Park, and Elk Lake Regional Park. Cyclists keep rolling for 12 months with rain gear.
