The Fontane-Wandermarathon begins and ends in Rheinsberg, located in Brandenburg’s Ruppiner Seenland. The course guides participants through the Rheinsberg lake district, avoiding city streets. This event offers both 21-kilometer and 42-kilometer walking options, with the seventh edition scheduled for a September morning.
The path crosses Rheinsberg’s forests and lake scenery, focusing on sustained group walking over long distances rather than competitive speed. Demand is high, and places are limited. Staggered registration has been implemented for this year. The event is coordinated with local and walking organizations, including Brandenburgische Seenplatte GmbH, Fitness-TREFF-Natur e.V., Berliner Wanderverband e.V., and the city of Rheinsberg. This year's marathon is also part of the Heinrich 300 anniversary program, commemorating Prince Heinrich of Prussia, who had strong ties to Rheinsberg.
