About this race
The Bibermann Triathlon Bleckede takes place in Bleckede, Lower Saxony, featuring a swim in the Bleckeder Elbhafen on the Elbe River. It provides multiple race options: a Volkstriathlon with a 500 m swim, 20 km bike, and 5 km run; a sprint race covering 750 m swimming, 20 km cycling, and 5 km running; and an Olympic distance comprising 1.5 km swimming, 38 km cycling, and 10 km running. For younger participants, duathlons are offered, consisting of short run-bike-run segments for student and youth categories. RSC Lüneburg e.V. organizes the event under DTU competition rules, utilizing electronic timing via foot transponder and requiring entry checks for younger competitors.
The swim course is measured, marked with buoys, and monitored by escort boats within the harbor. The cycling portions consist of flat asphalt turnaround routes through the Elbmarsch, with mandatory helmet use throughout the entire cycling segment. The run route guides athletes along the dike promenade, through the town center, and across the courtyard of Bleckeder Elbschloss, transitioning the race between the river, marshland, and the historic town center. In cases of Elbe flooding or water temperatures below 14 degrees Celsius, the organizer will convert the triathlon to a duathlon. Field sizes are limited, with 250 spots for the main race and 130 for the Olympic distance, contributing to the event's manageable scale.
