About this race
The Erfurt-Triathlon begins and ends at Strandbad Stotternheim in Erfurt, Thuringia. Racers swim first, move through the transition area, then cycle and run from the lakeside bathing area. This late-August triathlon, organized by Lauf- und Triathlon-Verein Erfurt e.V., offers XS, S, and M distances of 12.9 km, 25.8 km, and 51.5 km respectively. The atmosphere resembles a family sports day rather than a competitive event, welcoming beginners, experienced amateurs, regular triathletes, relay teams, children, and teenagers.
The routes navigate the surroundings of Stotternheim’s lakes and ponds, with a straightforward setup including bike parking near the run course. Relay races allow teams to share the distances, and age-specific children’s and junior courses are integrated. Participants receive free entry to the Strandbad, and some races also include entry for accompanying guests, facilitating family attendance for the entire day. The youngest participants are honored with a ceremony including certificates, while top finishers receive medals and small prizes, aligning with the event’s motto: “Dare - Participate - Keep Fit!”
