About this race
The Göttinger Stadtwerke-Volkstriathlon takes place in late summer in Göttingen, Lower Saxony, centered at the Jahnstadion sports park. The main sprint race involves a 500-metre swim, a 20-kilometre road bike course, and a 5-kilometre road run. An XS version is offered with a 200-metre swim, a 10-kilometre bike leg, and a 2-kilometre run. Additionally, children's and junior races adapt the distances to 50 metres, 2.5 kilometres, and 400 metres.
The event caters to both casual participants and experienced triathletes, featuring individual races, sprint relays, and a mixed relay for teams of two women and two men. The open and age-group sprint categories anticipate the largest number of competitors, with relay entries contributing a significant team presence. Göttinger Sport und Freizeit GmbH & Co. KG, ASC 46, and Waspo 08 Göttingen collaborate on its organization. Despite being referred to locally as Göttingen's newest endurance sports event, it attracts over 900 registrations.
