About this race
Herbsttriathlon is a small sprint triathlon in Gimbsheim, Rheinland-Pfalz, held in early September by Schwimmverein Freibad Gimbsheim. The standard race is short and approachable: 500 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of road cycling, and 5 kilometers of road running. A team relay over the same distances is also offered, allowing participants to split the swim, bike, and run instead of completing the full race alone. The event is open to Jedermann entrants and age-group athletes, with approximately 120 individual racers and 45 relay teams expected.
The course uses paved roads for both the bike and run, making it a straightforward local race. The SFG triathlon group organizes triathlons in Gimbsheim in both spring and autumn, describing them as family-friendly popular-sport events. One practical detail for this time of year: if the water temperature does not permit swimming under German Triathlon Union rules, the organizers can change the race format to a duathlon.
