About this race
The Marburger Nachtmarathon begins at 7 PM on Marburg’s historic market square, sending runners into a summer evening in this central German university city. The main event is a flat road marathon, with a half marathon for those not wanting the full distance and a relay option where up to four people share sections of about ten kilometers each. It is organized by Ultra Sport Club Marburg and draws enough interest that entries across the marathon, half marathon, and relay can sell out, with participant numbers limited by course capacity and no same-day late entry when the field is full.
The route is a large loop: first through the old town, then through the city, and from around kilometer seven on bike paths along the Lahn. Much of the run keeps Marburg’s skyline in view, including the Landgrafenschloss above the town and the gothic Elisabethkirche. Registration and the finish are located about one kilometer from the start at the University Stadium on Jahnstrasse. The course is record-eligible and flat, suitable for first marathon attempts as well as runners chasing fast times. Each finisher receives a medal designed as a collector’s piece, with a different notable Marburg building featured each year.
