About this race
Orange Day Hannover begins and ends at the Platz der Menschenrechte, the Square of Human Rights, aligning with the event's purpose. This is a brief, early evening city run in Hannover, with participants gathering before the 18:00 start and finishing back in the same square around 18:45. A moderate but definite pace is required: runners must maintain at least an 8-minute per kilometer speed. Though also listed as ADAC Marathon Hannover, the Orange Day identity takes precedence over racing designations, as the focus is not on medals or personal records.
Runners, walkers, and attendees are welcome. The event calls for the city to visibly display orange in solidarity with respect, protection, and action against violence. Participants should wear orange attire or accessories, and businesses and structures can illuminate or decorate with orange lights, window displays, seating, flashing lights, or vehicle escorts to broadcast the message throughout Hannover. The 5 euro entry fee covers a start number, public transport ticket, post-run refreshments, and a coat check service. Proceeds benefit Frauennotruf Hannover, with options for additional donations during online sign-up.
