About this race
The RIEMER-Teamtriathlon is a sprint-distance team triathlon held at Barleber See in Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt. It takes place in September as part of the state championship program. Each team consists of three participants, with each athlete completing 500 meters of swimming, approximately 20 kilometers on the bicycle, and 5 kilometers of running. The format involves the team progressing through the disciplines sequentially: swimmers start first, followed by cyclists, and then runners. Approximately 300 athletes are anticipated, and registration is limited to 130 teams.
Magdeburger Triathlon Club organizes the event under German Triathlon Union regulations. Helmets are mandatory, road traffic rules apply, and penalties may be issued for drafting or unsportsmanlike conduct. Awards are presented for overall and age-group categories for men's, women's, and mixed teams. State championship teams must represent the same club within Saxony-Anhalt. The event also carries a relaxed end-of-season atmosphere; local club accounts indicate it serves as a traditional season closer where social interaction, recovery, and the barbecue are valued as highly as race times.
