At Saint-Raphaël’s Stade Nautique Alain Chateigner, young racers swim in an indoor Olympic pool and then run a closed circuit around the pool complex. The Aquathlon Avenirs de Saint Raphaël is a youth aquathlon organized by Saint Raphael Triathlon, with races for children and teenagers across Jeunes 1, Jeunes 2, Minimes, Cadets, and Juniors, roughly covering ages 6 to 19. It is scheduled for early March in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, offering young athletes a controlled pool-based format before larger outdoor triathlon events.
The format is simple: swim first, then run, with no bike leg and no open-water section. This makes it accessible for newer juniors while still providing club racers a competitive effort. Recent editions have attracted over 110 participants, despite challenging weather and a competing regional youth event in Antibes on the same weekend. The closed run loop keeps the action contained for spectators, and the pool setting simplifies race management compared to a sea or lake aquathlon.
