La Baumoise VTT begins at the Gymnase de l'Europe in Baume-les-Dames, eastern France. It is a friendly mountain-bike and gravel ride, not a technical race, organized by Entente cycliste de Baume les Dames. Four route options are available: 29 km, 49 km, 58 km on gravel, and 62 km. The event is designed for wide participation, featuring low technical difficulty and routes accessible to riders seeking a managed outing rather than a demanding off-road challenge.
The 29 km route includes 400 meters of climbing, and the 49 km route rises 880 meters. The challenge lies more in distance and effort than in bike-handling skills. The routes utilize public roads or roads open to traffic, with ground markings and GPX tracks provided. Aid stations are available along the routes and at the finish, with showers offered post-ride. The organizer also provides a free official reconnaissance ride before the event, allowing participants to preview the course.
