The Trail d'Avenas - Deux-Grosnes begins at the Maison de la Randonnée et du Trail at Col de Crie in Deux-Grosnes. Runners then enter a route primarily within the wooded, shaded Beaujolais hills. The marked path, indicated by red number 23 on silver “Station de Trail” plaques, ascends nearly 1,000 m, alternating between runnable sections and narrower single-track trails.
The course goes by the Croix de Rochefort and offers clear views from above the Croix du Py, at Rochefort, and from the terrace of Fût d'Avenas. From Fût d'Avenas, one can see toward the Alps and the Beaujolais vineyards. Local products and a restaurant-bar are available at Fût d'Avenas, approximately two-thirds of the way through. The route also features some quiet paved sections near Montgoury, an option to connect with the KMV of Rochefort, and a shorter 21 km loop originating from Avenas village.
