Triathlon des Pins takes place in late April at Lac Baron des Queyroux in Montendre, Charente-Maritime, Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The primary event is a short-distance Triathlon S, featuring a 750-meter swim, a 19-kilometer bike ride, and a 5-kilometer run. An XS option is also available, with a 400-meter swim, a 10-kilometer bike ride, and a 2.5-kilometer run, alongside youth races for children aged 6 to 13. Triathlon Haute Saintonge is the organizer, and the event is listed on the regional triathlon calendar for Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
The competition is centered around the lake and its adjacent natural environment. The swimming portion begins in the open water of the lake, followed by the cycling and running segments that start from Montendre. The event offers a diverse range of options for a local triathlon: individuals can compete in the S or XS distances, relay teams can share the disciplines, and teams of 3 to 5 participants can enter the S team time-trial format. Younger children participate in a run-bike-run duathlon, while older youths compete in a short triathlon comprising a 200-meter swim, a 4-kilometer bike ride, and a 1.5-kilometer run. Recent years have seen five or six different formats offered, attracting nearly 600 participants, leading the organizer to state that most individuals can find a suitable race during the day.
