About
Chain Bridge, Heroes' Square, Margaret Island, and Rákóczi Bridge define this jubilee marathon festival: big-city running with a very local pulse. The 40th edition featured “Hungarian heroes, a world record, tears and smiles,” with a large field, many amateur runners, and families and kids included in the weekend rather than separated.
The route passes through the capital’s most scenic sections, including World Heritage areas, with Danube panoramas and historic buildings providing support when legs grow tired. Finishers receive medals honoring Fisherman’s Bastion, with different sizes and designs for different events, part of a nearly 3.5-ton collection of finisher hardware; it is the sort of detail runners recall when the race shirt has long gone soft in the drawer.
