Gran Fondo Internazionale Gavia & Mortirolo 2026

SUN, July 5, 2026 · Ponte di Legno Tonale , Italy

About this race

Gran Fondo Internazionale Gavia & Mortirolo is an annual non-competitive cycling event in Valle Camonica, starting and finishing at the Palasport in Ponte di Legno. It is built around the famous Alpine climbs of Passo Gavia and Passo Mortirolo, roads tied closely to Giro d'Italia history and pursued by strong amateurs and professional riders. Riders choose from three routes: a short ride of about 46 km, a medium route of about 110 km, and a long route of about 141 km. Even the short option is serious, climbing the Gavia with more than 1,700 m of elevation gain before finishing high and returning to Ponte di Legno outside the timed ride. The long course tackles the Gavia and then the Mortirolo from the Mazzo di Valtellina side, one of the climb's most storied approaches, while the medium route adds the Mortirolo from Grosio after the Gavia. The event was previously called Campionissimo and is often treated as one of the harder Italian granfondos because the climbing is steep, high, and loaded with cycling history. Roads are fully closed to traffic from early morning, which matters on narrow mountain passes. Gs Alpi organizes the event, drawing on more than twenty years in cycling events and granfondos. A two-day Gravel Experience runs alongside it, offering one-day or full-weekend rides on unpaved Alpine roads for people who want the same mountain setting without sticking only to the road course.
