About this race
Cyclists depart from Siena’s Fortezza Medicea and conclude in Piazza del Campo, utilizing two of the city’s notable locations for the start and finish. The Gran Fondo Strade Bianche is a large cycling event held in early March on the white gravel roads surrounding Siena, Tuscany. It offers a long Gran Fondo route and a shorter Medio Fondo option. Sportive Breaks offers entry and hotel packages located near both the start and finish points, which include choices for the start pen and guaranteed front-pen access with their packages.
The longer route covers 137.7 km with 2,000 metres of elevation gain and includes 20 km of gravel sectors; the Medio Fondo spans 87 km with 1,350 metres of elevation gain and features 10 km of gravel sectors. The professional women and men compete on the same white roads the preceding day, allowing amateurs to observe the elite races before riding the gravel sections themselves. Andrea Ferrigato, a Giro d’Italia stage victor, heads Sportive Breaks’ tour of Italy and leads a ride that includes live coverage of the professional race.
