Cesena sits in the Romagna flatlands south of Ravenna, where the real running action happens on the streets and parks around town—the Notturna di San Giovanni Cesena is the flagship 11km night race, and local 5K and 10K events anchor the winter calendar. Cyclists dominate here: the region is a proving ground for gravel and hillier terrain rides, with the Fiandre Cesenati (115km) and GF Nove Colli (107km) both tackling the Apennine foothills to the south, offering serious elevation gain within 30–40km of the city centre, while the Granfondo Terre del Sangiovese (45km) stays closer with rolling vineyard roads through the Sangiovese wine country.
