About this race
The Sudety Tour begins in Broumov, sending cyclists across the Czech-Polish border into the Sudety mountains. Originally an annual road cycling marathon, it ceased for a time before returning as the Dekom System Sudety Tour. The event now takes the form of a gran fondo race, offering two primary distances: an 85 km Mediofondo and a 147 km Granfondo. The Mediofondo serves as the qualifier for men over 60 and women over 50, with younger participants qualifying via the longer Granfondo route.
The race emphasizes continuous climbing and descending over extended flat stretches. Following the start, riders proceed towards Poland, crossing the border approximately 10 km in. They then pass through Radkow, the site of a 10.6 km time trial. This time trial commences with 2 km of flat terrain, followed by a 7 km climb averaging 5.5% gradient, gaining 411 m in elevation to finish well above the starting point. On the main road race course, Radkow signals the beginning of the primary ascent: a 10 km climb through the Szczeliniec Wielki forest at an average gradient of 5%.
