About this race
The Jacek Starościak Swim Around the Pier is a 1,200-meter open-water race in Sopot, starting from the beach near pier entrance 23. Swimmers begin at noon during three summer editions. The Municipal Sports and Recreation Center in Sopot organizes the event, a local summer tradition with over 25 years of history. Recent editions have attracted more than 200 participants.
The course goes around the Sopot marina and the pier, meaning competitors swim alongside two of the town’s most recognizable waterfront landmarks, not on a simple beach path. Amateurs and known athletes participate. Wetsuits are permitted, and all swimmers have a 60-minute time limit. Sopot WOPR ensures water safety. Prizes are awarded to top swimmers. Entry fees are kept affordable, with reduced rates for Sopot Card holders and complimentary starts for individuals aged 65 and older.
